The real beauty of Bath lies beyond the ancient city borders and among its hills and luscious greenery. Start at the Bathwick hill offering breathtaking views over the city and follow the signs. In summer, eat blackberries right from the bushes and apples from the trees. Walk through history from an Iron Age hill fort to 18th-century follies and stroll through hidden valleys, woodlands and patchworks of small meadows, all rich in wildlife. This walk burns as much energy as playing 90 minutes of football, according to research. Stop off at the American Museum at Claverton Down and enjoy a free cookie and coffee with your admission fee when you present your printed Skyline map.
